Rocketbook brought Tool on board to help conceptualize a premium version of their reusable notebook system, which eventually saw the launch of Rocketbook Pro 2.0. Early in the engagement, we proposed a bold design shift: a hard-laminated cover inspired by tablet cases, paired with sleek magnetic binding rings. The initial prototype captured immediate enthusiasm from the Rocketbook team, leading to Tool executing the full product development.

Using 3D printing, we rapidly prototyped and refined the magnetic spine system, solving key mechanical challenges such as magnet placement, spine-to-cover assembly, and the design of secure yet intuitive hooks for interchangeable page packs. Our design introduced a modular magnetic binding system that maintained Rocketbook’s hallmark reusability while enhancing durability, tactile quality and overall user experience.

The result is a premium cover that folds flat, supports lap use, and offers a more rigid writing surface—delivering on functional needs without sacrificing the product’s familiar flexibility. A distinctive, space-inspired aesthetic aligns with Rocketbook’s brand and elevates the overall system. The design has been enthusiastically received by Rocketbook’s dedicated community and new users alike.
